Tom Hanks voiced an incredible 5 characters (6 if you count the narrator as a separate character) in the 2004 motion capture hit, The Polar Express. He voiced the ‘Hero Boy’s’ father, the train conductor, the hobo, Santa Clause, and the Scrooge puppet.
The boy's father is an encouraging and supportive character who tells his son to believe in the magic of Christmas. He’s a warm and caring character, and Tom’s warm voice makes him all the more real. The train conductor is a jovial and friendly character who acts as the leader of the Polar Express. He's kind and caring to the passengers and Tom Hanks helps to bring this spirit to life. The hobo is a mysterious figure who appears on the train. He's eccentric and wise, and Tom Hanks adds a sense of mystery to the character that few other voice actors would have been able to achieve. Santa Clause is a well-known and beloved character who makes a special appearance in The Polar Express. He's kind and generous, much like you would expect a real-life Tom Hanks to be. The Scrooge puppet is a mischievous character who serves as comic relief. He's full of life and energy, and Tom Hanks adds a comedic edge to this character by really letting his voice go wild!
Tom Hanks is an incredibly talented actor who brought these characters to life in The Polar Express. His talent and skill shine through in each of these roles, making them memorable and beloved.
