Saturday evenings are made for wining and dining, and there is no better place to dine this summer than the Churnet Valley Railway. Back by popular demand, returning after 10 years, are our famous Pie and Mash Saturday’s.
Dine Aboard our Elegant Dining Train
Step on board our elegant dining train and be treated to some of the finest quality food in the area, sourced from local farmers. Our showstopper pies are prepared at Ash Butchers in Leek, and come in a variety of options for you to choose from including meat; chicken and mushroom, along with vegetarian options. Our comforting meal comes with hearty gravy and creamy, smooth mashed potato and peas.
Top your meal off with delicious desserts while enjoying the stunning sunset over the hills of the Churnet Valley. Our fully stocked bar has a range of local ales, lagers and wines that you can preorder before climbing aboard so that all you need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the journey.

Our Pie and Mash Saturday evening special runs on a number of days in 2022:

Our journey departs at 6 pm, allowing you to experience the stunning Staffordshire countryside as the evening draws in. Starting and ending at Froghall Station, it couldn’t be easier to get here, with easy taxi links from Leek, Cheadle and surrounding areas. While enjoying your meal, sit back and relax over our 22 mile journey, as you tuck into locally sourced food. Summer nights couldn’t be better!
Due to the nature of our heritage kitchen coach we are only able to accommodate gluten free and vegetarian options.

All our dining trains depart from Froghall Station (ST10 2HA) where there is free parking for all our customers, we also have limited disabled parking bays.

The journey should last around 2 hours, however please allow extra time to check in when you arrive. There may be a small delay upon your return if you need to pay by card for any extra drinks bought during your journey.

We kindly ask that our customers refrain from walking around the dining coaches during meal service. It is not possible to alight from the dining train other than at Froghall Station.

Unfortunately the heritage nature of our coaches does not allow for access on board with wheelchairs or walking frames. Please do discuss your specific needs with our office and we will always do our best to accommodate your needs in any way we can.

If you have a booking for 2 people, we cannot guarantee that you will have a table exclusively for your use. Due to the nature of our coaches you may be sat with other people at a table of 4 . Only those with the correct exclusive voucher will be guaranteed a table of 2.

All of our dining trains operate a smart casual dress code; no tracksuits, walking shoes, trainers, hats or sweatshirts are allowed.
Dining Train passengers can wear lounge suits or black-tie if they wish to do so; however, this is not compulsory.
We would like to remind all passengers that this can be a once in a lifetime experience for some of our guests and that some passengers may be celebrating special occasions.
We politely ask that all guests remain mindful of others during their visit.
