As Santa season approaches once more, the Churnet Valley Railway is delighted to announce that it is to receive an early Christmas present for 2018! Hunslet Austerity no. 3694 “Whiston” is due to touch down this week, ahead of a 3 month stay where she will be used on the line’s ever popular “Santa & Steam” specials alongside resident TKh no 2944 “Hotspur” before stopping on to perform during the CVR annual curtain raising event The Winter Steam Gala on 23/24 February 2019.
Tickets are still available to purchase for the annual festive treat, popular amongst generations of families who have been visiting the Churnet Valley year upon year. 2944 and 3694 will be sharing out the duties of operating these services every weekend and Wednesday in December plus additional dates in the final run up to Christmas.
