We are happy to confirm that our recent Forties Weekend has proved to be a success following it's re-timing from our traditional April date to a later September date.
This is despite heavy competition from similar themed events within the Midlands Area, and a lack of Period Re-enactors due to limited availability that led to us adopting a more post-war theme.
The highlight of the gala was undoubtedly the preservation debut of former Tank Carrier wagon no. 8123 following restoration work by a group of the CVR's volunteers led by Nigel Barnes over the summer. The event saw the wagon used to transport two preserved Ferret Scout Cars around in consist with one of the passenger rakes all weekend, to the delight of all our visitors.
The event is to remain on the same weekend for 2016, for which we will strive to make the event even more enjoyable than this year's.
A gallery from this year's event has been uploaded onto our Facebook page, which is viewable to all including non-Facebook users. If you wish to see these photographs for yourself, then feel free to click here.
