Churnet Valley Railway has issued a statement today announcing a small delay in its planned reopening. The railway aims to re-start both steam and diesel trips in July. The revised inaugural 2021 departure is set to depart from Froghall Station on Wednesday 7th July.
Following the lifting of various lockdown restrictions, the heritage visitor attraction was due to welcome people aboard later this month. A delay in the delivery of the final parts required to complete the track maintenance programme has pushed back the re-opening date.
The consequential knock-on effect has impacted the date the railway was to have resumed operation and launch its 2021 timetable.
A spokesperson for the railway has apologised for the delay and confirmed “Our customer service team will be in touch with everyone affected to offer alternative dates or refunds.”
