The Churnet Valley Railway is delighted to announce that as part of its Winter Steam Gala 2017, Middleton Press will be officially launching their book "Branch Line from Leek to the Manifold Valley" during the event.
Author Vic Mitchell will be in attendance at the gala on Saturday 25th February, where he will base himself at Froghall Station and be available for book signings until 15:30.
Consisting of 96 pages with over 100 photographs and large scale maps of the local area, this new hardback book details the Leek & Manifold Light Railway that was officially built in two parts - the Standard Gauge section from Leek to Waterhouses, and the Narrow Gauge section from Waterhouses to Hulme End. This new book unusually covers the full journey from start to finish, covering both sections of line. Passing through some of the UK's finest scenery, whilst also connecting in with local industry, this book is a fascinating insight into a long gone but much remembered railway.
