In recent months CVR have taken on the lease of the centre section of the original Endon Station building, with a view to it reopening as a Tea Room and Delicatessen. Following careful development in true railway style, ‘The Station Kitchen’ is set to open from Tuesday 13th January and will be run by Chris & Sue Bates .
Low season opening times will be - 7.30am to 2.30pm Monday – Friday, 7.30am to 1.00pm Saturdays, closed Sundays in winter. These hours will be expanded in summer.
Contact telephone number is 01782 503512.
The outlet is small but impressive, whilst the Tea Room seats only ten covers, Chris & Sue will be serving freshly made sandwiches and local produce on a takeaway basis and have an existing internet business making Oatcakes, which will be serviced from the bakery part of the premises.
The main entrance is off Station Road, adjacent to the Doctor’s Surgery, with additional access from the main platform. In recent weeks the platform area has been much improved with new fencing and ramp-end repairs. It is hoped to re-ballast the trackbed close to the crossing to again improve the site’s appearance.
Enthusiasts, CVR volunteers and local residence are urged to support this interesting and useful venture.
CVR wishes to thank Endon Parish Council and the Endonian Historical Society for their co-operation and support regarding this project.
