After seeing no trains for 5 years, our second platform at Consall saw its first test train this weekend as our preparations ramp up ready for our Grand May Steam Gala.
The second platform has undergone a major refurbishment to the main structure along with the total replacement of the platform surface, this has included 480 feet of new timber, 400 feet of steel work, 2900 bolts and 88 non slip decking sheets!
All of this work has been completed by our fantastic volunteers in the Civils Engineering team, the pictures of the test trains this weekend are a testament to their hard work and dedication.
The works on the platform was possible in part by a generous grant from the Staffordshire Moorlands Partnership.
