As of today, the Churnet Valley Railway (1992) PLC is no longer a member of the Heritage Railway Association (HRA) having not renewed our subscription - today we received notice that our benefits have been terminated.
Our decision not to renew our subscription has been made after careful consideration of the wider implications.
While we have chosen to take this stance, we would reconsider rejoining the HRA at some point in the future, should the Association’s approach evolve to better reflect the views and needs of its member railways.
Notwithstanding our departure from the HRA, we will continue to honour HRA Passes and will maintain the relevant discount for pass holders to the Churnet Valley Railway.
Furthermore, where possible, our staff will continue to collaborate with the various committees we have previously been involved with, although we recognise that officials from the HRA may choose to block such engagement.
We wish to emphasise that our disagreement with the management of the HRA should not impact the ability of passive members from other heritage railways to enjoy the benefits afforded to them at our railway.
