As part of the CVR commitment to working with the "Inland Waterways Association" and "Caldon & Uttoxeter Canals Trust" we are offering support with the clearance of Himalayan Balsam from the local area. An event event has therefore been planned for next THURSDAY, and everyone is welcome to join us at Consall Station from 10am, with a planned finish of 3pm.
Meet at Consall Station car park (accessed by driving down the track beyond Consall Nature Park, Consall Forge, Wetley Rocks, Staffordshire, ST9 0AF) to work downstream towards Flint Mill Lock. Himalayan Balsam is an invasive non-native species that crowds out other plants. It pulls up very easily and is completely non-toxic. This is a great activity for all the family (children must be accompanied and supervised). Please wear stout shoes and long sleeves and trousers (to avoid nettle stings) and bring waterproofs and a packed lunch if staying all day.
