Brief Job Role: Do you have green fingers and a head for horticulture? Are you passionate about historic environments? We need volunteers to care for our gardens and help them flourish!
Our small team of volunteers help maintain the floral décor of our stations, with the largest efforts being at Cheddleton which regularly enters the local "Open Garden" competition. Working in the great British outdoors, the scale of a project you work on will be dependent upon your confidence levels, but the opportunity is there to attain something you are unable to in your own back garden.
Whether it's planting or pruning, watering or weeding, there is always something to do that will bring the station grounds to life. As with many of our volunteer roles, you may also be approached by visitors who want to ask questions about the garden, or are looking for general gardening tips – so it’s also a great way to share your love for horticulture (and pick up some ideas of your own). But don't worry if you're a green fingered novice - our small friendly team will happily guide you in developing your knowledge and skills at any one of our stations.
