On the hunt for a unique Saturday evening date idea? Tired of the same old restaurants and pubs? Join us as we open our 2024 Saturday Evening Train Ride season this June, July, and August. This excursion offers you the chance to experience vintage rail travel at its best, with lots to see onboard and several charming villages where you can hop off, explore on foot, and hop back on the next regularly scheduled train.
The Journey
Our trip starts at Froghall Station at 18:30. From here, we head into the Churnet Valley, stopping at Consall and Cheddleton stations before making our way to Ipstones, where we turn around. You are very welcome to stay on board or disembark at either stop (no disembarking at Ipstones) to explore the Black Lion and The Boat Inn, two popular and much-loved local hospitality hotspots. Our Saturday evening train ride is also open to those enjoying a day in the Midlands. If you've already travelled with us on the day and find yourself enjoying the local scenery and hospitality at any of the stops along the Churnet Valley line, feel free to hop back on for a ride out as your day ticket is valid all day.
An out-of-the-ordinary experience
This incredible hour-long trip is the ideal quick getaway for a couple looking for something different, and is also popular with families. Our activity packs, available at the station for £3.50, are as popular with young children as our fully stocked bar is with adults.
