Brief Job Role: If you are looking for a cleaner job at the railway then look no more. With office-based work such as answering the phones, preparing for events, and helping to run events there is plenty of opportunity to get stuck in.
The office is open Monday to Friday 0900 – 1800 then Saturday and Sunday 0900 – 1600. You aren’t required to stay all day with you coming and going as you please. The phone lines are busy daily with bookings for our ever-popular Steam Train Dining and Footplate Experiences. You will be provided with all the training to use our bespoke website and services along with tea and coffee by the bucket. Located at Cheddleton you wont be far from the action as the service trains pass the office daily.
If you fancy something a little bit more energetic, then why not help on special events, with a variety of themed events running throughout the year – ranging from children’s-based events to more grown up events like Real Ale & Spirits of the Railway to our themed Forties weekend. All these take months to plan and weeks to install and prepare, often in between the busy service trains. Once the event is up and running it is time to man the tills, bars BBQs and exhibits helping passengers enjoy their trip with us.
Projects: The main projects for commercial are the multiple events throughout the year, all which culminate to our ever popular “Santa and Steam” event. This event alone brings nearly 10,000 visitors to the line in a little under three weeks, and provides the railway with a significant income whilst presenting a difficult but rewarding challenge in ensuring all visitors go home satisfied.
