Brief Job Role: Ever walked past a structure and thought that's impressive? Noticed the intricacies in construction and wondered how? Wished you could help produce something similar, no matter how big or small?
Well join our Civils gang, and become the latest member of this successful team. From complete station builds, to basic fence repairs, no job is too big or small for this team. Working in the great outdoors (with the odd wet weather day working indoors) no task is too great, as the weekly team set about ensuring every structure is fit for purpose whilst also assisting with any new builds selected across the railway. The Civils department offers a varied and interesting selection of jobs for people of all fitness levels; from simple inspections to completing minor repairs on often unseen but highly important structures.
Projects: The Civils Gang have been responsible for most of the greatest successes to be found on the CVR. The most recent project saw the complete ground up rebuild of Leek Brook waiting room - starting from scratch, the original design has been modified to incorporate a wheelchair accessible toilet which is now open for the public to use when visiting Leek Brook.
The waiting shelters at both Froghall and Consall have been completely rebuilt also - including the centi-levered one of the Caldon Canal. All done by the line's enthusiastic volunteers, skilled or unskilled they continue to achieve and bring the past back to life for many visitors to enjoy.
