Brief Job Role: The catering department is becoming an increasingly important aspect of the railway with dining trains running on every service train. With Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner all now available on the train the Kitchen coach has never been so busy.
With the kitchen preparing the food you will have the training and opportunity to offer silver service to the passengers as they travel the Staffordshire Moorlands. Make light-hearted conversation as you serve the locally sourced alcohol (training provided) or can you handle the heat? Take on the kitchen staff helping prep the food for service or simply making tea and coffee.
A typical day starts will signing on and find out the number travelling before loading the train for the days service. Once on the move add the final touches before greeting the guests with a smile.
During events, the dining train takes a rest with the staff turning to the tearooms at Froghall and Cheddleton. Serving the finest meals and snacks any railway would be envious of. This role could be BBQ chef or coffee making with training in all areas. With a great team spirit and a fantastic team to support you you will never have a dull moment and always have a friend to talk to.
Projects: Everyday on the train is a different adventure with between 30 and 90 passengers travelling all requiring the finest dining. The larger dining trains have served up to 220 passengers during a private charter in 2017.
