Our steam train afternoon cream tea experience combines the elegance and charm of 1960s first-class train travel with the refined luxury of a traditional English cream tea to recreate the vintage ambience once common in the Moorlands. With unlimited hot drinks, fresh-out-of-the-oven scones dripping with locally sourced jam and cream, and a fine selection of cakes to complement it all, it's hard to think of a more relaxing and refreshing train ride anywhere.

Our well-stocked bar is open for all our dining experiences. You're also welcome to pre-order your drinks to have them waiting for you at your table on arrival. Drinks are priced individually and are not included in the ticket price.

All of our dining trains operate a smart casual dress code; no tracksuits, walking shoes, trainers, hats or sweatshirts are allowed.

Dining Train passengers can wear lounge suits or black-tie if they wish to do so; however, this is not compulsory.

We would like to remind all passengers that this can be a once in a lifetime experience for some of our guests and that some passengers may be celebrating special occasions.

We politely ask that all guests remain mindful of others during their visit.

We welcome well-behaved children over the age of 12 on our Lunch and Cream Tea Trains. Our breakfast train accommodates children as young as 8 years old.

Why not take the kids out for Mad Hatter's Tea Party at the Churnet Valley Railway for Easter 2024 too? Much–loved characters Alice, the Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit will be strolling through the train to talk to all the children, parents and grandparents.
